1. What We Collect — The Short Answer

Almost nothing. We collect only what's necessary to generate your pet portrait and process your payment. Here is exactly what happens:

Your photo: Uploaded temporarily to our server in memory (RAM). We do NOT store it on any disk, database, or cloud storage. It is deleted from memory immediately after generation completes — usually within 30–60 seconds.
Your prompt text: The custom description you type. Same treatment as photos — processed, then discarded.
Payment data: Handled entirely by Creem (our payment processor). We never see or store your credit card number.
Style choice: We log the style ID you selected (e.g., "dark-samurai") for anonymous usage statistics. No personal data attached.
Free trial flag: We store a flag in your browser's localStorage to track whether you've used your free generation. This never leaves your device.

    🔑 Key Promise: We do not keep, store, archive, train on, or sell your pet photos. Ever. They exist only in our server's RAM for the duration of the generation process and are then permanently discarded.
  

2. AI-Generated Images & Copyright

Important legal context: Under current US Copyright Office guidance (March 2023) and EU copyright frameworks, images generated entirely by AI without substantial human creative input are not eligible for copyright protection. The US Copyright Office has explicitly stated that works created by AI lack the "human authorship" requirement.

What this means for you:

Your AI-generated pet portrait is not copyrightable by anyone — not by you, not by us.
You are free to use, share, print, post, and enjoy your portrait anywhere. Nobody can claim copyright ownership.
Because the image is public-domain-like in copyright terms, you face no restrictions on personal or commercial use.
That said: you should not attempt to register an AI-generated image for copyright, as it will be rejected.

3. How We Process Your Photo

Here is the exact technical pipeline:

You upload a photo → it enters server memory (RAM).
The photo is sent to DeepSeek API solely for prompt enhancement (visual analysis). DeepSeek does not store images.
The photo and enhanced prompt are sent to SiliconFlow (SDXL) for image-to-image generation.
The generated result is returned to you. All intermediate image data in our server is immediately garbage-collected.

We use Cloudflare Pages infrastructure. Your data may transit through Cloudflare's global edge network, subject to Cloudflare's privacy policy.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on these services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies. The only thing we store in your browser is a single flag (pg_free) that records whether you've used your free generation. No advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, no fingerprinting.

6. Children's Privacy

PetGuardian is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has uploaded a photo, contact us and we will verify and delete any associated data immediately.

7. Your Rights

Since we don't store your data, there's not much to exercise — but you always have the right to:

Ask us what (if anything) we hold about you
Request deletion of any stored data
Opt out of any future data collection
